President Jim Wilson called the meeting to order on June 3rd, 2014 at the MCL Cafeteria.
Guests and possible new members were introduced. Bill, Nancy and Shane Erdis who have a Studebaker. Dave Hall '52 Chevy Coup. Trish Davidson and husband who also have a Studebaker and Julie Teller, '64 Olds.
Health and welfare in the absence of Annette Williams (on maternity leave for new grandson) Bob Peterson expressed his gratitude for the cards and prayers he'd received. Jim Courtney also expressed his gratitude for the cards and prayers he'd received during his recent hospitalization. Eldon Fredericks stated that Marcia was currently at Sycamore Springs for dementia treatment.
Roll call was answered by 74 members.
Drawing for the MCL Gift Card was won by Pat Wilder. Gene Gangwer won the free membership for a friend and Les Freed won the Dog n Suds gift card.
The secretary read the May minutes. Jim Walsh moved they be approved as read. Joe Newlin seconded.
Pam Luenz gave the Treasurer's report with a balance in checking of $2,275.51, savings balance $903.04 and money market of $536.73. Pam stated the current membership total of 109 members, very close to a record.
Harold Williams who currently has the Dammit Doll presented it to Ed Wagoner. Harold explained the history of the doll so that the guests and new members would know what it was about. Ed Wagoner then passed the doll on to Malcolm Miller.
Men's breakfast: Jim Wilson reported approximately 14 members in attendance at the May breakfast. Harold Williams invited the new members to the Men's Breakfast which is held the 3rd Friday of each month at the Downtowner restaurant at Market Square.
Linda Cobb announced the ladies' luncheon would be June 16th at the Blue House in MarJean Village at 11:30 a.m. Please RSVP to Linda.
Tom Cobb spoke about the website, it's home page and bulletin board. This is an excellent method of communication and is very important to keep your email address updated with Pam Luenz. Everything you need to know is on this website.
Old business: Jim Wilson reported on the Westminster car show. Approximately 30 cars were displayed and the hospitality was generous. Seems as the ice cream was plentiful. The Barber Shop Quartet serenaded Pat F. as well as one of the cars.
Jim also reported on the car show on Sunday, June 1st at the Verteran's home. Approximately 45 cars were there which included the Thunderbird Car Club. It was a great show with the veterans enjoying the display of cars. Joe and Boni Goss then led a tour to the Dog n Suds in West Lafayette. Evidently some of the cars detoured to a nearby winery. The weather was perfect and a big THANKS to Joe and Boni for the tour.
New Business: Brandon Steven has tickets for the Ken Double 32nd Variety Show at the Long Center. It will be June 14th at 7:30 p.m. Also there will be reserved seating for the LIHAC Members.
Tom Cobb stated that he is planning a trip to Kalamazoo, MI to the Gilmore Museum Labor Day weekend. There are two new buildings, The Lincoln and the Model T building. Watch the web for more info. This will be designed for you to drive your antique car (maybe not the model T's.) He also stated they need suggestions for tours that would be of interest to the club members. Tom is also planning a breakfast tour for sometime in July. Suggestions for the breakfast was the Masonic Lodge at Rossville. Other suggestions for tours were the Dayton Ohio Packard museum and the Wright Patterson Air Force museum.
Don Gosma announced the Steam and Power Show would be July 31st, August 1st, and 2nd and would like a good number of vehicles for the parade as this could be the last year for the show. He also announced he is the new owner of a '50 Cushman scooter.
Harold Williams apologized for the change of date for the Beef House tour due to weather. No apology needed for the storm than came in.
October 11th Harold and Jo Williams are hosting a cook out. Bring a covered dish and lawn chair. Club will provide drinks and meat.
August 13th is the tour of the Caterpillar plant. Let Brandon know if you want to attend.
