The March 6, 2018, LIHAC meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the president, Tim Lange, 52 answered roll call. There are 91 memberships as of the March 6th meeting. There were 2 guests, Craig Challgren and Kim White. Craig has a '65 Corvette, '62 MG B and a '62 MG A.
The guest speaker for the evening was Sergeant Len Halascsak of the Tippecanoe Sheriff's Department about personal security and safety. The department conducts four seminars a year at the Sheriff's Department titled, "Refuse to be a Victim." The seminars are given every 3 months. It is a one day, 4 hour class. It includes using personal safety like a taser stun gun or pepper spray, but not guns. The Sergeant answered several questions from the LIHAC crowd. The seminars are open to anyone, but, there is only room for 20 people so you must call first if you want to attend. The phone number to call is 765-423-9388 ext. 3227.
The Secretary's report was read and approved. The Treasurer reported checks amounting to $68.49 were written in February, and a deposited $152. Checking account has $4433.85 and the savings has $1053.22. The treasurer's report was approved.
There were 6 anniversaries and 14 birthdays for the month of March.
Linda Cobb reported on care and Concern, a card to Jerry Barnett and a sympathy card to Vivian Miller with Malcolm's passing.
The MCL drawing went to Brandon Stevens, the Dog n Suds to Nancy Erdes and the giving of a free membership to give away went to Martha Hayes.
Linda Cobb reported on the February Ladies LIHAC luncheon at Olive Gardens, 17 started out but in the end only 11 stayed. The Men's breakfast had 15 bodies. The March Ladies luncheon, that Marty Burkhalter is in charge of will be at O'Charley's March 14, at 11:30. Men's breakfast will be March 16 at 8:30.
The annual car show at University Place will now be called The Eldon Fredericks Memorial Car Show, which will be September 16 at The University Place.
The annual St. Patrick's Day Luncheon will be held at 9 Irish Brothers on St. Rd. 38, March 18, at 1:30.
The monthly Dog 'n Suds cruise for April will be the second Sunday, April 8th, because this year, the first Sunday will be Easter Sunday.
The dammit doll is till with John Coulsen, because he is in Florida, but Joe Newlin had a problem at Dog 'n Suds, so he will be the happy recipient of the doll, --but because his vehicle is half the size of a regular car it was suggested that the doll be half the size----that just might happen!! The golden spike has a special place on Marlene Peterson's kitchen wall.
The Bingo date had to be changed to May 20th, still at Buck Creek at 1:00.
Cindy Reinke of Flora will be giving a presentation about Human Trafficking for the May 1st LIHAC meeting.
The president announced that there is a need for a new position, of the club, that could use a volunteer, called, Membership Watch. That person would be responsible for reminding members when their membership is nearing expiration and time to renew. If interested, talk to the president after the meeting.
Barry Wheeler had some comments about an article in a car magazine and Harold Lumley announced about the Mecum Auto Auction to be at Indianapolis Fairgrounds, May 15-19.
There was a motion to adjourn the meeting by Roger Miller and Jerry Barnett seconded the motion.
